The Zodiac – twelve cosmic phases that reflect the soul’s journey
The twelve zodiac signs form the foundation of astrology—a sacred language of the stars that has been evolving for thousands of years. While there is no exact date marking the birth of astrology, we know that by the 4th century BCE, Babylonian astronomy and its intricate system of celestial omens had already begun to shape the spiritual and scientific imagination of ancient Greece. By the 2nd century BCE, Egyptian astronomy had joined this cosmic dialogue, resulting in a new form of stargazing—one that turned its gaze not only toward the heavens, but also inward, toward the individual soul.
Astrology—sometimes called a philosophy of the stars—has transformed across ages and empires, yet its essence remains: a bridge between the cosmos and the self. The zodiac signs, as we know them today, are deeply rooted in the wisdom of ancient Babylon and Greece, later shaped by the mathematical brilliance of the astronomer and philosopher Claudius Ptolemy. Around 1,800 years ago, Ptolemy wrote the Tetrabiblos, one of astrology’s most enduring texts. In it, he divided the Earth’s orbit around the Sun—a full 360-degree circle—into twelve equal 30-degree segments, each linked to the constellations that could be seen rising during that time.
From this meeting of cultures emerged horoscopic astrology, a revolutionary system centered around the birth chart—a celestial map of the sky at the moment of one’s first breath. This system introduced the Ascendant, or rising sign, as well as the twelve houses, each reflecting a distinct area of life. Unlike the collective focus of Mesopotamian astrology, this new form offered a more intimate lens, one that aligned the movement of the stars with the inner unfolding of the human journey.
Even today, across centuries and continents, we still lift our eyes to the sky in search of meaning. In a world that is often fast and fragmented, astrology offers us a quiet compass. While modern science may dismiss astrology as a pseudo-science, many find in it a language that links the outer universe with the inner world, showing us how the rhythm of the stars can mirror the rhythm of the soul.
To help you understand the deeper meaning and origins of this ancient practice, you will find here a journey through the twelve zodiac signs—twelve archetypes, twelve portals of self-discovery.

Aries – the spark of life, blazing the trail of the self
Aries is the first sign in the zodiac cycle and therefore corresponds to the 1st house—the house of identity, beginnings, and the emergence of the self. It is the raw spark of incarnation, where the soul says, “I am.” It represents the primal force that launches us into the world, burning with individuality, drive, and instinct.
As a fire sign, Aries embodies vitality, courage, and passion. Its element gives it the heat to move forward and the daring to begin what no one else has started. This energy doesn’t hesitate, it initiates. Aries describes the moment of birth, the will to survive, and the bold desire to assert one’s unique place in the world. Ruled by Mars, the red planet of war, energy, and action, Aries represents the archetype of the warrior—restless, brave, and always ready to conquer new territory. Mars is the commander in battle, the pioneer, and the lover of challenge.
In mythology, Aries is often associated with the golden ram that rescued Phrixus and his sister Helle from a treacherous fate. Sent by their divine mother, the ram flew them across the sea. Helle fell, giving her name to the Hellespont, but Phrixus was saved. In gratitude, he sacrificed the ram to Zeus, and its golden fleece became a symbol of divine kingship, power, and heroic quests—later sought by Jason and the Argonauts. The myth reflects the Aries essence: fierce protection, divine mission, and the courage to defy death for a new beginning.
Aries stands at the gateway between the spirit and the world. While Pisces dissolves the ego into the cosmos, Aries emerges from the void with a cry of independence. Where Pisces ends the cycle with surrender, Aries begins anew with boldness. This sign reminds us that before we can merge with the All, we must first know who we are.
Individuals influenced by Aries energy are natural leaders, often driven by instinct and a deep inner fire. Their desire to lead stems not from domination, but from a natural confidence that they can face what others fear. They move ahead not because it’s easy, but because standing still feels like death. Action is their language, and truth their compass.
With Aries energy comes a tremendous power of manifestation. These are the people who jump in headfirst, who test limits, who say “yes” to life before the risks are even calculated. Sometimes this recklessness backfires, but the Aries soul learns through action—not hesitation. Mistakes are burned through just as fast as victories are claimed.
The Aries individual is often described as competitive and assertive—but behind that fire lies a deep innocence. Aries is the child of the zodiac, unfiltered and pure in their intentions. Their directness is not malice, but honesty. Their impatience is not selfishness, but a hunger to move, to feel alive. Just as spring bursts forth after winter, Aries energy cannot be contained for long.
On a higher level, Aries represents the divine will made manifest. It carries the torch of initiation, reminding us that every journey starts with one bold step. Spiritually, it asks: Are you brave enough to be who you are? Can you claim your own life path without apology?
The shadow side of Aries may manifest as aggression, impulsivity, or a need to always win. In extreme cases, this can lead to burnout, conflict, or isolation. Yet, when matured, Aries becomes a noble champion—defending the weak, protecting the truth, and forging a path where none existed before.
In opposition to Aries lies the 7th house, ruled by Libra, the sign of harmony, relationship, and balance. While Aries says “I am,” Libra says “We are.” Aries teaches the power of selfhood, but its full wisdom is found when it learns to channel its fire not only for personal victory, but for shared growth. In this sense, Aries represents the sacred spark that, when integrated with love and awareness, becomes a light for others to follow.
You’ll often find Aries in roles that require initiative, risk, and personal courage—entrepreneurs, soldiers, athletes, activists, firefighters, trailblazing artists, or outspoken leaders. Their motto might be: “Better to fail while daring greatly, than never to have tried at all.”
In essence, Aries is the birth of will, the divine “I AM” roaring into the world. It is the hero at the beginning of every myth, the flame that refuses to be extinguished, the soul that remembers—before we can become one with all, we must first become fully ourselves.
Taurus – the sacred sensualist grounded in the beauty of life
Taurus is the second sign in the zodiac cycle and therefore rules the 2nd house—the realm of personal resources, values, and physical embodiment. After Aries bursts into the world with a cry of “I am,” Taurus follows with a contented sigh, grounding that identity into the material world. It is the sign where the soul experiences form, sensation, and the pleasures of incarnation. Taurus whispers, “I have,” anchoring the fiery impulse of life into something lasting, tangible, and nourishing.
An earth sign of fixed modality, Taurus represents stability, sensuality, and persistence. It rules over the body, the five senses, and the sacred rhythm of nature. It is symbolized by the Bull, a creature revered since ancient times as a symbol of fertility, strength, and power. In myth, the bull often carried the gods or guarded treasures of the Earth. Taurus embodies this archetype—not the fury of the wild beast, but the deep strength of the tamed guardian who knows the richness of stillness and the power of patience.
A lesser-known myth associated with Taurus comes from the nurturing tale of Amalthea, the divine goat who suckled the infant Zeus in a cave on Crete. To protect her child from the devouring madness of Saturn (Cronos), Rhea entrusted him to the earth’s care. Amalthea fed the god-child from her horn, and from that nurturing act came the Cornucopia, the horn of plenty—a symbol of abundance, sustenance, and the fulfillment of earthly needs. Taurus carries this energy within: it is the archetypal provider, the nourisher of life, the lover of peace, comfort, and sensual joy.
Ruled by Venus, the goddess of beauty, pleasure, and connection, Taurus is magnetically drawn to what pleases the senses: soft fabrics, warm sunlight, a home cooked meal, or the slow, unfolding intimacy of trust. Venus in Taurus is not seduction through mystery or illusion, but through presence. It is the gaze that lingers, the touch that remembers, the voice that calms.
Taurians are often described as stubborn, but their determination arises from a deep need for security and the preservation of what they hold dear. They move slowly, but with intention—like the Earth herself. Once committed, they are unwavering in love, work, and principle. Their loyalty is a force of nature, and their sense of value—whether for people, possessions, or their own time—is solid as stone.
Taurus invites us to slow down and savor life. While Aries blazes trails, Taurus builds gardens. This sign knows that life isn’t just about movement and change—it’s also about anchoring, growing roots, and taking joy in the moment. Taurus teaches the spiritual wisdom of the body: that pleasure is not a sin, but a celebration of life’s sacred design. To feel deeply, to rest fully, to enjoy wholeheartedly—these are Taurean paths to the divine.
Taurus is in opposition to the 8th house of Scorpio, which rules transformation, crisis, and death. Where Scorpio seeks depth through destruction, Taurus seeks depth through cultivation. This polarity reminds us that we cannot fully embrace the mystery of life until we learn to honor its physical form. Taurus, as the steward of the 2nd house, says: “Before you can die to yourself, you must first live in yourself. Before you let go, you must know what you hold.”
Taurians are often drawn to careers or callings that involve beauty, design, agriculture, finance, food, or healing. They can be artists, farmers, chefs, gardeners, singers, architects—anywhere their hands and senses can shape the material world into something lasting and pleasurable. Even their voices often have a melodic, grounding quality.
On a higher level, Taurus represents the sacredness of matter. It carries the wisdom that Earth is not just a place to pass through on the way to something “higher,” but a holy ground where spirit becomes form. In this way, Taurus is deeply spiritual, though often in a quiet, embodied way—through rituals of presence, acts of devotion, and the celebration of simple joys.
Yet every archetype has its shadow. When Taurus energy is unbalanced, it can become overly attached, resistant to change, indulgent, or possessive. The fear of loss or instability can lead to clinging, hoarding, or stagnation. In such times, Taurus must remember that even the most beautiful rose eventually wilts, and the river of life continues to flow. True security is not in holding, but in trusting the abundance of the Earth and the rhythms of nature.
Ultimately, Taurus is the artist of the physical world, the guardian of beauty, the sensual soul who reminds us that incarnation is a gift—not a prison.
Gemini – the divine messenger who dances between light and shadow
Gemini is the third sign in the zodiac cycle and is therefore associated with the 3rd house—the realm of communication, curiosity, language, and our immediate environment. After Aries declares “I am” and Taurus says “I have,” Gemini enters with the words “I think”—a sign forever seeking to understand, to connect, and to translate the world into meaning. It is the moment the soul opens its eyes, asks its first questions, and begins to make sense of the world through dialogue, symbols, and stories.
An air sign of mutable modality, Gemini embodies fluidity, quicksilver thoughts, and endless curiosity. It represents the world of ideas, but also the magic of interaction—how two people speaking together create a third energy: understanding. The sign is symbolized by the twins, and their mythology is deeply rooted in the tale of Castor and Pollux—the Dioscuri, children of Leda. Though only Pollux was immortal, their bond was unbreakable. When Castor died, Pollux begged Zeus to reunite them. In compassion, the king of the gods placed them both in the sky as the constellation Gemini. One mortal, one divine—this duality speaks to the heart of Gemini energy: the interplay of opposites, the union of mind and body, and the eternal dance between heaven and earth.
Ruled by Mercury, the wing-footed god of messages, thresholds, and transitions, Gemini is the archetype of the Messenger—moving between realms, translating the divine into human speech, and connecting what would otherwise remain separate. Mercury is both a trickster and a guide, reminding us that truth is often paradoxical, and that wisdom sometimes hides in jest. This makes Gemini not only a thinker but also a weaver of patterns—someone who links disparate things, sees the irony in contradictions, and can hold multiple truths at once.
Geminis are often known for their wit, humor, and restless intellect. They are storytellers, communicators, observers of life’s absurdity and beauty. Even the quiet ones carry a quicksilver mind, able to leap from subject to subject with dazzling agility. Conversation is their nourishment, language their playground. They are not just speakers—they are interpreters, seekers, bridge-builders between people, cultures, and ideas.
The duality of Gemini is not a flaw but a feature. Like the two hemispheres of the brain, or the inhale and exhale of breath, Gemini moves between contrasts—logic and feeling, seriousness and play, structure and chaos. This is the sign that understands life not as a straight line but as a dialogue. The “both-and” principle is at the heart of their essence. They are capable of seeing both the comedy and tragedy of life, sometimes within the same sentence.
Spiritually, Gemini represents the bridge between spirit and word. It is the code hidden in the matrix, the glyph that unlocks deeper realities. In this way, Gemini often resonates with the Magician archetype—not in the sense of illusion, but in the capacity to reveal hidden truths through language, gesture, or perspective. They are translators of experience into language, and their greatest gift is the ability to mirror the mind of the cosmos.
In the zodiac wheel, Gemini stands opposite Sagittarius, the seeker of higher knowledge and cosmic truth. While Sagittarius looks far, Gemini looks near. One aims for wisdom through expansion; the other finds wisdom in immediacy, in the thousand details of everyday life. Together, they complete the journey of the mind—Gemini gathers the facts, Sagittarius weaves the philosophy.
When balanced, Gemini energy is curious, compassionate, and brilliant. When unbalanced, it can become scattered, restless, or overly detached. The danger lies in getting lost in endless chatter or surface-level interactions, forgetting the deeper emotional and spiritual dimensions of communication. In such cases, the Gemini must remember that every word is a spell, every question a portal. When they root their speech in sincerity and stay grounded in the body (the domain of their Taurus predecessor), their magic becomes alchemical.
Geminis are often drawn to fields that involve writing, speaking, teaching, performing, or researching. They are journalists, translators, comedians, podcasters, poets, linguists, and social butterflies. Their strength lies in their ability to connect people and ideas, to light up minds, and to remind us that life is meant to be explored—not just endured.
Ultimately, Gemini is the breeze that carries laughter through the trees, the spark of recognition in a shared idea, the childlike wonder that never stops asking, “Why?” and “What if?” Gemini teaches us that joy lives in curiosity, that conversation is sacred, and that no truth is too small to matter.
Cancer – emotional nurturers that seek the highest form of connection
Cancer is the fourth sign in the zodiac cycle and therefore corresponds to the 4th house, the sacred ground of home, roots, and our emotional foundation. It is here that we are held, remembered, and shaped by our deepest feelings and earliest attachments. Cancer represents the inner shell of the soul—the psychic place we return to when we need to feel safe, protected, and understood. It is the sign where water first begins to move—not as oceanic vastness like Pisces, but as the tender, tidal current of human emotion.
As a water sign, Cancer is deeply attuned to the invisible world of feelings, moods, and memories. It rules the emotional body—how we absorb, store, and respond to emotional experiences. This makes Cancer the great nurturer of the zodiac, carrying within it the desire to care, to love, and to protect. The Cancerian impulse is not about personal gain—it’s about creating connection, forming bonds, and building homes both physical and spiritual.
Symbolized by the Crab, Cancer teaches the art of moving sideways through life, sensing before acting, and carrying one’s shelter within. In Greek mythology, the crab appeared in the story of Hercules and the Hydra, when it bravely intervened in the hero’s battle to defend the goddess Hera. Despite being small and fragile compared to the mighty demi-god, the crab attacked without hesitation, acting purely from loyalty and devotion. Though it was crushed beneath Hercules’ heel, Hera honored its courage by placing it among the stars. The story may be tragic, but it reveals one of Cancer’s greatest strengths: its fierce, even self-sacrificing loyalty to those it loves.
Cancer is ruled by the Moon, celestial guardian of tides, dreams, and emotional rhythms. The Moon governs the night and reflects the sun’s light in ever-shifting phases—symbolic of Cancer’s inner world, which is just as changeable, mysterious, and cyclical. The Moon also influences the ocean’s tides through gravitational pull, just as it tugs on our emotional states. It is no coincidence that many report heightened feelings or strange dreams during a full moon—the lunar cycle is deeply connected to our emotional equilibrium, especially for Cancer natives.
Cancerians are known for being highly intuitive and emotionally sensitive. They feel not only their own emotions, but also the unspoken undercurrents of those around them. This psychic sensitivity gives them a powerful ability to nurture others, to anticipate needs before they’re voiced, and to respond with deep compassion. But to protect themselves from being overwhelmed by these emotional waves, Cancers often retreat into their shell—their home, their memories, or their inner world.
Home is not just a place for Cancer—it is a sacred sanctuary. Their dwelling is an extension of their soul, filled with meaning, comfort, and history. Cancers often become the heart of the household, whether as caretakers, cooks, listeners, or emotional anchors. It’s no surprise that many professional chefs, caregivers, or even homemakers have strong Cancerian influence (especially those with Cancer Rising). Their instinct to nourish others goes beyond food—it’s also emotional and spiritual sustenance they offer.
Cancer also rules the mother archetype, and by extension, our connection to the mother within and without. This doesn’t mean all Cancers are literal mothers, but they carry the archetypal energy of someone who holds space for others, who remembers the past, who honors tradition, and who understands the language of emotional depth. Cancer speaks in feelings and symbols, not logic or speed. Their memory is long and their emotional landscape rich—sometimes so rich that they may hold on to pain long after it has passed. Their ability to remember emotions, both beautiful and painful, is a gift and a burden.
When unbalanced, this emotional depth can lead to moodiness, withdrawal, or depression. Cancers may sometimes isolate themselves, becoming overly nostalgic or consumed by old wounds. If this happens, it is important for them to return to the present moment, reconnect with safe people, or simply share space with a Gemini friend—someone who knows how to lighten the load with humor and presence.
Cancer is in opposition to Capricorn, the sign of structure, discipline, and public achievement. Where Capricorn climbs mountains, Cancer digs roots. Together, they remind us that a strong foundation (Cancer) is necessary for any meaningful success (Capricorn). Cancer teaches that our emotional well-being and our sense of belonging are not luxuries, but essential ingredients for a meaningful life.
Cancers love deeply, and they love quietly. Their actions may go unnoticed, but they are the kind that hold the world together. They are the friends who check in when no one else does, the lovers who remember every detail, the artists who paint with feeling, and the family members who keep the stories alive. They may not seek the spotlight, but they are always holding the light.
At their highest potential, Cancers are emotional alchemists—able to transmute pain into healing, fear into tenderness, and longing into devotion. Their love is not loud, but it is enduring. Their loyalty is not performative, but it is sacred.
Cancer teaches us that true power is not force, but care. That to be vulnerable is not to be weak, but to be brave enough to feel. And that in a world moving too fast, the greatest gift we can offer one another is the stillness of being held.
The Cancerian soul whispers: “You don’t need to be perfect to be loved. You just need to be real. Come in, rest your heart.”
Leo – the majestic creators who rule with passion and heart
Leo is the fifth sign in the zodiac cycle and therefore also rules the 5th house, the realm of creativity, romance, self-expression, and the radiant spark of the heart’s true desires. After Cancer teaches us to feel and protect, Leo steps forward boldly and says: “Now, I will create.” It is the sign where the soul learns to shine not for survival—but for joy. For celebration. For love.
All people born between July 22nd and August 22nd fall under the zodiac sign of Leo. It is symbolized by the lion, a creature of strength, nobility, and pride—often associated with kings, heroes, and solar deities. The lion represents not only courage, but also the dignity of being fully oneself, without apology. Leo does not hide—it roars.
In Greek mythology, Leo is connected to the story of the Nemean Lion, a monstrous beast with impenetrable skin that no weapon could wound. Sent to defeat it as one of his twelve labors, Hercules, son of Zeus, found no arrow strong enough to pierce its hide. So he did the unthinkable: he met the beast on its own terms, wrestling it face-to-face, and strangled it with his bare hands. Moved by the act of courage and the symbolic power of the lion itself, Zeus placed the lion among the stars as the constellation Leo. This myth captures the heart of Leo’s essence—fearless, unrelenting, and true to its nature, even in the face of the impossible.
In astrology, Leo is ruled by the Sun, the celestial body that gives light, warmth, and life to everything it touches. The Sun is the center of the solar system, and likewise, Leo energy naturally gravitates toward the center of attention—not to dominate, but to shine and uplift. The Sun symbolizes vitality, power, and the spark of individuality. Like their ruling planet, Leos radiate charisma, joy, and inner fire. They carry within them a solar flame that lights up any room, warming those around them and inviting others to remember their own brilliance.
Leo represents the divine play of life. This sign thrives on self-expression—through art, performance, storytelling, music, and grand romantic gestures. Life itself becomes a stage upon which the Leo soul dances, not for approval, but because expression is their lifeblood. There is a natural theatricality in Leo, a desire to make everything around them more beautiful, more exciting, more meaningful. They don’t just live—they perform life with full-hearted intensity.
But Leo is not all show. Beneath their golden aura lies a generous and fiercely loyal heart. When a Leo loves, they love completely—with the protectiveness of a lion and the tenderness of a child. They believe in the people they care about, often seeing potential in others before they see it in themselves. Their love language is often expressed through celebration, encouragement, and unwavering devotion.
Of course, the very fire that makes Leo shine can, when imbalanced, burn too brightly. Leos may struggle with arrogance, pride, or an excessive need for validation and recognition. When their light feels unseen or unappreciated, they may become dramatic, withdrawn, or even sulking. But this, too, is part of their journey. For Leo’s true strength is found not in applause, but in self-recognition—in knowing that they are enough, even when the audience is silent.
Leo is in opposition to Aquarius, the sign of collective ideals, community, and the mind. While Aquarius says “We are all stars,” Leo says, “And I will show you how brightly one can shine.” This axis teaches that individuality (Leo) and collectivity (Aquarius) are not enemies—they complete each other. When Leo embraces their authentic self-expression, they naturally inspire others to do the same, becoming beacons of hope, courage, and joy.
You often find Leos in roles that require visibility, passion, and creative leadership—artists, actors, performers, educators, entrepreneurs, activists. But even in quieter lives, the Leo soul is unmistakable. It might be the parent who turns bedtime into a fairytale world, or the friend who celebrates your wins louder than anyone else. Leo lives to make life larger, fuller, and more radiant.
Ultimately, Leos are here to embrace their true essence, to follow their heart’s call without fear of rejection, and to express themselves without shame or hesitation. Their mission is to create, to inspire, and to love with the fearless warmth of the Sun itself. When Leos step into their divine radiance, they remind us all what it means to live with joy, pride, and passion.
Virgo – critical lovers of detail with the most pure energy
Virgo is the sixth sign in the zodiac circle and therefore rules the 6th house, which represents health, daily routines, service, and the way we manage the practical aspects of life. It is here that the soul, having learned to express itself in Leo, begins to refine and improve what it has created. Virgo is the one who brings order to chaos—not through control, but through care. Those born between August 23rd and September 22nd fall under this sign.
Virgo is often symbolized by the Maiden, or virgin, and is linked to the myth of Astraea, the divine ambassador of the Golden Age. She was the last immortal to live among humans, walking the Earth in an era of peace, truth, and natural law. But as the world descended into the Iron Age—marked by greed, dishonesty, and destruction—Astraea could no longer bear to stay. Heartbroken, she returned to the sky, becoming the constellation of Virgo. Legend has it she will one day return to Earth and bring with her a new Golden Age. She stands for justice, purity, and the sacred value of everyday decisions—all the small things we do that shape the larger world.
From this myth we can understand Virgo’s essence: a sign that seeks honesty, integrity, and order. Purity is not an aesthetic to Virgo—it is a way of life. Without truth and structure, Virgo feels out of alignment. This is why Virgos are often labeled as perfectionists—but their attention to detail is not about control, it is about service. They see the way things could be, and they feel deeply called to bring things into harmony.
Virgo is ruled by the planet Mercury, the god of communication, intellect, and systems. But unlike Gemini, who expresses Mercury through words and ideas, Virgo channels this mental energy into organization, clarity, and useful action. Virgo thinks in processes. They notice the missing piece. They find the flaw in the system not to criticize, but to improve. In a workplace, a Virgo is the one who remembers the deadlines, creates structure, and follows through—every time.
This sign is also strongly associated with the body and health. Virgo governs the nervous system and digestion—the ability to process, sort, and eliminate what does not serve. Many Virgos are drawn to fitness, holistic health, nutrition, and movement. They feel best when they are in sync with their body. If you know someone who can’t relax until they’ve been to the gym or had their walk—there’s a good chance they have strong Virgo energy. As a running joke, tell that to a Taurus—they probably won’t get it. 🙂
Virgo energy is refined, intelligent, and deeply feminine—especially in Virgo women, who often carry a natural grace that’s not loud but absolutely striking. There is something in their presence, their posture, their embodiment, that makes them unforgettable. They may appear calm and composed, but beneath that exterior is a mind constantly scanning, organizing, and quietly perfecting the world around them.
This sign appreciates the little things as much as the big ones: a well-made bed, a precisely written sentence, a thoughtful gesture. In Virgo’s world, beauty lives in the details. Their ability to bring care into the practical makes them incredible healers, editors, teachers, coaches, and organizers. Their work may not always be glamorous, but it is essential. Virgos fix what others overlook, and they do so quietly, with devotion.
At times, Virgo may become overly critical—especially of themselves. Their high standards can turn inward, creating pressure and anxiety. But when they learn to see themselves with the same compassion they offer others, their wisdom shines through. A Virgo in balance is one of the most loyal, capable, and truly helpful people you will ever meet.
Virgo reminds us that grace is found in precision, and that taking care of the small things can transform the bigger picture. They are not trying to be perfect—they are trying to serve something pure, honest, and whole.
In a world that often overlooks the quiet workers of light, Virgo remains—focused, faithful, and devoted to the details that hold it all together.
Libra – perfectionist beauty-lovers who will always seek fairness and justice
Libra is the seventh sign of the zodiac cycle and therefore rules the 7th house, which represents relationships, partnerships, unions, and the sacred art of mirroring. It is the sign where the self—after defining itself in Aries—learns to encounter the other. All people born between September 23rd and October 24th fall under the zodiac sign of Libra.
Libra is symbolized by the scales—a representation of balance, fairness, and harmony. It is the only zodiac sign represented by an inanimate object, setting it apart as the great mediator among the signs. In Greek mythology, Libra is connected to the goddess Themis, the divine embodiment of justice, truth, and cosmic law. Themis carried the golden scales and weighed good and evil with impartiality. In Roman mythology, she appears as Justitia, blindfolded to avoid bias. Her presence in the sky reminds us that fairness is not found in extremes but in the sacred space between them.
This celestial myth reflects Libra’s constant pursuit of equilibrium—in love, in life, and in the world. Libras are seekers of beauty and truth. They are diplomatic, graceful, and peace-oriented. In astrology, Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, aesthetics, and social harmony. Under her influence, Libras are gifted with a refined sense of taste, a natural love for art, and the desire to make everything—from a conversation to a dinner table—more beautiful.
Libras are often associated with elegance, charm, and social intelligence. They thrive in environments where connection, culture, and conversation are valued. Whether through fashion, interior design, art, or dialogue, they bring an eye for balance and symmetry into every space they enter. They are the ones who rearrange the room, soften the mood, and make everyone feel heard.
Libra energy is focused on justice, fairness, and moral clarity. They have a deep need to see all sides of a situation and often play the role of mediator. This makes them excellent negotiators, counselors, and advisors. Their ability to hold multiple perspectives at once allows them to understand people on a profound level—but it can also leave them stuck in indecision. Libras may struggle when forced to choose, as they can see truth in every angle.
At times, this longing for harmony can tip into people-pleasing. Libras may avoid conflict at all costs, bending their own truth for the sake of keeping the peace. But true balance is not the absence of conflict—it is the presence of honest dialogue and mutual respect. Libras are here to learn how to assert their own voice while still honoring others. When they do, their wisdom becomes magnetic.
In relationships, Libra seeks not only love but partnership—a bond built on equality, respect, and mutual beauty. They want to grow through connection, to evolve through reflection, and to walk through life side by side, hand in hand. This makes them deeply romantic, idealistic, and devoted—when they find a connection that honors both the self and the other.
You’ll often find Libras in roles that involve art, diplomacy, fashion, law, or social causes. They are natural harmonizers and justice-seekers, often drawn to careers where they can bridge opposites or fight for fairness in quiet, graceful ways.
Ultimately, Libra is here to create harmony in a world that often tilts too far. They remind us that peace is not passive—it is a conscious act of balancing light and shadow, me and you, self and society. Their beauty is not just skin deep—it is the kind of beauty that heals, unites, and uplifts.
Scorpio – passionate advocates of the raw truth
Scorpio is the eighth sign of the zodiac cycle and therefore corresponds to the 8th house, which represents intimacy, emotional merging, shared resources, deep transformation, and the mysteries of life and death. The 8th house is often associated with what is hidden: the taboo, the secret, the sacred—and Scorpio, as its ruling sign, feels at home in these depths. This sign is concerned with what lies beneath the surface, what others are afraid to touch, and what truths remain unspoken. All people born between October 23rd and November 21st fall under the sign of Scorpio.
Scorpio is a water sign, but unlike the open emotional flow of Cancer or the dreamy currents of Pisces, Scorpio’s waters are deep, still, and intense—like a secret underground river. These waters are charged with emotional truth, primal instincts, desire, and the power of regeneration. Scorpio rules not only life’s endings but also its rebirths. It represents the cycles of death and renewal that every soul must walk through, again and again.
The sign is often symbolized by the scorpion, a creature that moves in silence and shadows, fiercely protecting itself with a potent sting. In Greek mythology, Scorpio is linked to the story of Orion, the great and proud hunter. Orion, in his arrogance, claimed he would rid the world of all dangerous beasts. His dominance and lack of humility disturbed Gaia, the Earth Mother. To remind Orion of his limits, she sent a small scorpion—unassuming, yet deadly. Orion fired his arrows, but he couldn’t hit it. The scorpion, with precise and fearless purpose, struck him with its venom and brought him down.
In gratitude, Gaia placed the scorpion in the night sky as the constellation of Scorpio. The hunter Orion was also honored, but the two constellations were placed on opposite sides of the heavens. It is said they continue to chase each other eternally, never to meet—symbolizing the cosmic tension between arrogance and truth, dominance and retribution. This myth captures the very essence of Scorpio: a defender of hidden power, an agent of divine justice, and a creature that does not fear the darkness but knows how to move within it.
Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, the god of the underworld, and traditionally also by Mars, the god of war. This dual rulership gives Scorpio its signature depth and intensity. Pluto rules over transformation, decay, rebirth, and soul evolution. Mars brings action, desire, courage, and survival instinct. Together, they make Scorpio the spiritual warrior—a sign that holds the sword of truth and the lantern of shadow work.
Scorpio individuals are known for being passionate, private, magnetic, and emotionally complex. They feel things deeply—often more than they show—and are experts at reading what others try to hide. This sign is highly intuitive, often sensing what goes unsaid. Scorpios value loyalty and depth in all relationships. Casual encounters rarely satisfy them. They crave intimacy, emotional honesty, and shared vulnerability. When a Scorpio lets you in, it is not a small gesture—it is a sacred act of trust.
However, their depth can also be their burden. Scorpio energy, when unbalanced, can manifest as jealousy, control, obsession, secrecy, or emotional withdrawal. Because they fear betrayal so deeply, they sometimes test people before allowing closeness. But when Scorpio learns to trust not only others but themselves, their relationships become transformational experiences—built on truth, healing, and shared power.
Scorpio is also associated with the occult, psychology, sexuality, mysticism, and all things taboo. This sign rules over what society hides or represses. That’s why many Scorpios are drawn to fields like therapy, forensics, research, investigative journalism, energy healing, death work, and esoteric studies. They aren’t afraid to explore what’s uncomfortable—because they understand that healing can only happen when we stop running from what hurts.
In the zodiac cycle, Scorpio stands in opposition to Taurus, which governs stability, comfort, and the physical world. While Taurus holds, Scorpio releases. Taurus preserves what is; Scorpio transforms what must evolve. Together, these signs form a sacred polarity: the builder and the destroyer, the seed and the soil, the body and the soul. Scorpio reminds us that no growth can occur without letting go.
Scorpio also represents the power we receive from others—through inheritance, intimacy, or spiritual connection. It governs energetic exchange, including the transformative force of sexual union, emotional enmeshment, and the way we are forever changed by those we love. Scorpio is about merging and becoming—dying to the self so that a new self may rise.
At their best, Scorpios are truth-bearers, healers, and protectors of what is sacred. They don’t shy away from the raw or the real. They have walked through fire and know how to hold space for others in their darkness. They are not here to make life easy. They are here to make it real. Their presence asks us: What are you hiding? And what would happen if you faced it?
Ultimately, Scorpio’s path is about transformation through truth. They teach us that power is not domination—it is self-mastery. That emotion is not weakness—it is depth. And that rebirth only happens after surrender.
Sagittarius – Innovators with a higher vision
Sagittarius is the ninth sign in the zodiac cycle and therefore describes the 9th house representing higher education, travel, religion and your own path in life. It is often symbolized by the Archer, which was a centaur, a mythological being half man and half horse. His name was Chiron and also described as the wounded healer, as he was accidentally shot by Hercules with a poisoned arrow. He suffered dearly after that shot and even though his healing abilities were profound, he could not heal himself. In the end he gave up his immortality to save Prometheus and went to the underworld instead of him. For this heroic act, his constellation was cast onto the sky. Chiron was regarded as different by many, due to his appearance, but known by all as an intellectual and a great healer and truly loved by his wife Chariklo.
As the story teaches us, intellect and knowledge are important, but your own true path in life will always draw you towards it. You can become your own guru, but in the end there is something greater than yourself as well.
In the astrological sense, the zodiac sign of Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter. Jupiter, the God of wisdom and expansion, is known to the greatest among the Gods. He expands everything he touches and is known as the great benefactor.
Therefore, Sagittarius represents learning, self-actualization and adventure. The Sagittarius has the ability to forge its own path in life, to go beyond what is already known and to strive towards their own meaning in life. This characteristic makes Sagittarius an inspiring force within the zodiacal cycle. It is the risk-taker and the initiator. Their force makes them popular and charming, but Sagittarius is never arrogant. Their intuitive wisdom lets them be certain that there is something greater than themselves.
Personally, I have met many Sagittariuses that are doubting the existence of God. Many times I have asked myself how this can be in the sign that is mostly connected to religion. But we have to understand that it is the 12th house that is connected to God. The 9th house of Sagittarius is associated with religion. Religion gives structure, hierarchy and a sense of service to others and something greater than ourselves. Consequently, we can find many Sagittariusses who are structured, very well organized and true managers. I think of it more like the practice of taking care of a temple or zen garden, then spirituality itself.
Sagittariuses can be opinionated and also quite argumentative. But this is more in terms of a good discussion, than a verbal fight. This sign stands for higher knowledge and intellect. As an archetype we can imagine Sokrates, the greek philosopher (Sōkrátēs; c. 470 – 399 BC). His aim was to learn through good dialogue and teach others to learn by asking them questions leading to reflective thinking. Using this method, he was able to help others expand their own horizon within their own mind only through questions introducing logic and ratio. This is a great depiction of Sagittarius, as they constantly question themselves, their surroundings and strive to increase their understanding of the world.
Sagittarius does not come across as an intellectual (this might be Aquarius much more). They rather come across well grounded, much like an earth sign having a strong base to stand on. In the zodiac cycle the house of Sagittarius is in opposition to the 3rd house of Gemini, which represents day to day life, our tangible skills and our immediate surroundings. Looking at Sagittarius from that angle, it also stands for our intellectual, invisible skills and everything that is far away from our daily hustle and bustle. Travel to far away places and gurus may also be represented by Sagittarius.
Sagittarius can also be a little melancholic and critical. As they like to think conceptually, the reality sometimes does not match up. This ability though makes them great entrepreneurs, as they can envision products and services that do not yet exist. They are true innovators.
Capricorn – climbing the mountain of purpose, one step at a time
Capricorn is the tenth sign in the zodiac cycle and therefore describes the 10th house, representing career, public image, success, and our own authority. This is the sign that stands for long-term goals, discipline, and building something that lasts. Capricorn energy is deeply grounded and practical—it doesn’t rush, but it always moves forward, one step at a time.
Capricorn is often symbolized by the sea goat, a mythical creature with the upper body of a goat and the lower body of a fish. In Greek mythology, Capricorn is linked to the god Pan, who transformed himself during an escape from the great monster Typhon. In a panic, he jumped into the water and tried to become a fish, but the magic only half-worked—leaving his head as a goat and his tail as a fish. When Typhon attacked Zeus and tore the muscles from his legs, it was Pan and Hermes who helped heal him. In gratitude, Zeus placed the image of Pan in the sky, creating the constellation of Capricorn. This myth tells of an individual rising through difficulty by doing good deeds and meeting the task at hand with strength and service.
In astrology, Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the god of time, structure, and divine order. Saturn is also known as Cronos—the father of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. He is associated with rules, boundaries, authority, and the hard-earned rewards that come only with effort and time. Nothing comes easy under Saturn’s influence, but what is built here lasts.
Capricorn represents duty, responsibility, and slow but steady progress. This sign is not afraid of hard work—they are used to effort, and they rarely give up. Like mountain goats climbing impossible cliffs, Capricorns are clever, persistent, and focused. They don’t need shortcuts. They don’t expect praise. Their satisfaction comes from reaching the summit—not because it’s easy, but because they earned it.
Capricorns are often described as workaholics—and there’s truth in that. One of their life lessons is to find balance between career and emotional life. Sometimes they can appear cold or overly serious, but underneath that reserved exterior is a deep desire to matter. They want their work, their actions, and their presence to have a lasting impact. External validation is important for them—not for ego, but as a sign that their efforts are meaningful.
Because they set high standards for themselves, Capricorns can also be self-critical—especially if they fail at a task or are outperformed. In these moments, they need to be careful not to fall into doubt or harsh judgment. They will never truly give up, but the time spent in insecurity only delays their ascent. Their strength lies in their determination, not in perfection.
Capricorn also represents leadership and authority. It rules over bosses, managers, heads of households, and public figures. Capricorns feel the weight of responsibility naturally, and often step into roles where others depend on them. They may not seek the spotlight, but they are drawn to positions where they can guide, manage, and protect.
In the end, Capricorn is a sign of growth through endurance. It teaches us that success is built, not given. That strength lies in consistency. And that greatness comes not from luck, but from showing up—again and again, even when no one is watching.
Aquarius – the visionary who carries the waters of change to humanity
Aquarius is the eleventh sign in the zodiac cycle and therefore corresponds to the 11th house, which represents community, innovation, friendship, and the collective future. This house speaks to the larger social fabric in which we are all woven, and Aquarius, as its ruling sign, holds the blueprint for how that fabric might evolve. It is the sign of the future, of radical ideas and social reform. In a world that often resists change, Aquarius arrives as the one who not only imagines something new but dares to build it.
Aquarius is symbolized by the Water Bearer—a mysterious figure who pours forth the waters of wisdom, healing, and transformation. But the waters Aquarius offers are not literal. They are currents of insight, liberation, and change, carried from the mind and poured into the world for the benefit of all. The myth behind this constellation tells the story of Ganymede, the beautiful son of a Trojan king. Chosen by Zeus for his extraordinary spirit and beauty, Ganymede was taken to Mount Olympus to serve as cupbearer to the gods. While this may appear as a role of servitude, it was, in fact, a position of great honor.
Yet Ganymede’s most important act was not as a servant, but as a compassionate visionary. Seeing humanity suffer through drought and thirst, he pleaded with Zeus to intervene. Moved by Ganymede’s selflessness, Zeus sent rain to the Earth, restoring balance and life to the people. Ganymede was immortalized in the stars as Aquarius—a symbol of divine generosity, spiritual service, and humanitarian love. His story captures the essence of the Aquarian mission: to uplift the many through the vision of the one.
In the astrological sense, Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the sky god and cosmic disruptor. Uranus brings sudden change, rebellion, revolution, and brilliant invention. It breaks the rules of time, tradition, and hierarchy to make way for new systems. Where Saturn rules what is, Uranus reveals what could be. Its energy is electric, strange, and ahead of its time. Under Uranus, Aquarius becomes the messenger of tomorrow.
Therefore, Aquarius represents independence, originality, and visionary thinking. Aquarians often carry within them a deep sense of mission that stretches far beyond personal desires. They are the social architects, systems thinkers, and reformers who see not just how the world is—but how it might become. Their ideas can be radical, their minds expansive. They are not here to replicate the past—they are here to design the future.
Even though Aquarians are connected to communities, groups, and networks, there is something innately distant and singular about them. Much like Ganymede among the gods, Aquarians are part of the collective, yet set apart from it. They observe from above, seeing patterns others miss. They often function as the observer, the orchestrator, the innovator, preferring to lead through vision rather than emotion. Their brilliance lies not in the personal, but in the universal.
Aquarius energy is deeply tied to technology, science, unconventional knowledge, and social experimentation. It rules over astrology, satellites, space travel, decentralization, and collective awakening. The Aquarian mind is like a bolt of lightning—fast, brilliant, and uncontainable. Ideas come in flashes. Paradigms are questioned. New worlds are imagined. Tradition is not sacred to Aquarius unless it serves the greater good.
In the zodiac cycle, Aquarius stands opposite Leo, the sign of the individual heart, personal pride, and creative identity. While Leo says, “This is me,” Aquarius says, “This is us.” Leo seeks personal significance; Aquarius seeks collective evolution. From this perspective, Aquarius represents the depersonalized genius—the one who doesn’t seek the spotlight, but instead builds the stage upon which many may shine. Aquarius acts not for fame, but for freedom.
However, this beautiful detachment can also become a challenge. Aquarians can become overly idealistic, emotionally distant, or stuck in abstract theory. Their need for freedom may isolate them. Their love for logic may override feeling. And when their visions lack grounding, they may find themselves building castles in the clouds. To thrive, Aquarians must learn to balance mind and heart—to root their radical ideas in compassion, and to stay connected to those they wish to uplift.
Aquarius stands for progress, reform, and human evolution. It governs friendships, social causes, networks, and futuristic thinking. Aquarians are often drawn to innovation, activism, science, invention, or alternative communities. They challenge the status quo and awaken others—not with dogma, but with illumination. Their loyalty lies not with tradition but with truth. Their heart beats not just for one person, but for all.
These are the silent revolutionaries, the eccentric inventors, the ethical hackers, the bridge-builders between spirit and science. Aquarius is a fixed air sign, ruled by Uranus and connected to the 11th house of the collective. It doesn’t rebel for attention—it disrupts to heal. It dreams not just for itself, but for all of humanity.
Ultimately, Aquarius is here to remind us that the future is not something we wait for.
It is something we create—together.
Pisces – full of fantasy that dissolves the border between the ego and the universe
Pisces is the twelfth sign in the zodiac cycle and therefore describes the house, which represents spirituality and our connection to something greater than ourselves.
The water sign stands for the invisible, non-material side of our lives. It describes dedication, faith, and intuition, as well as everything that is far away from the daily life and routine. This zodiac sign also signifies the call towards something greater than ourselves. It represents the ‘oneness’ with God or the Universe. Pisces stands for the ultimate connection with everything that is and dissolves the borders between me and you, as well as me and the universe. Pisces are empathetic, highly intuitive and creative. The pisceans are always a bit detached and have a whole world of their own in their fantasy. Striving for a greater purpose and being a visionary is part of the Pisces. It is often symbolized by the fish that helped Aphrodite and Eros, the Gods of love and passion to escape from the titan Typhon. Typhon was an evil titan, with a frightening appearance. His legs were several snake tails and his rage was limitless. Typhon came to Mount Olympus to kill the Gods. All of them escaped by shape shifting, except Aphrodite and Eros. They tried to flee, but were not fast enough. In the last moment, two fish came and rescued both of the Gods through the water from Typhon. To reward the fish for their heroic gesture, the Gods make a constellation of stars for them. The fish represent the dissolving of the boundaries between earth and water. As the story teaches us, only the unfamiliar realm of the water and their unconditional trust could save the Gods. It is said that the Christ consciousness is connected to Pisces, being shown in Christ’s symbol of the two fish. In Christianity Christ stands for unconditional love, unshakeable belief, empathy towards people who need help or outcasts and serving others.
In the astrological sense, the zodiac sign of Pisces is ruled by the planet Neptune. Neptune, the God of water and the sea, is associated with the power to turn the tides and subjugate nature. Also fog and natural disasters are associated with this God. Neptune rules the spiritual realm and everything apart from the material world.
Therefore, Pisces represents sensitivity, empathy and creativity. The Pisces has the ability to intuitively sense what it is that other people need or feel. This ability is what makes the Pisceans highly intuitive and fine tuned to their environment. To protect themselves from all these flows of intuition, feeling and sensing, they detach from the material world and strive towards something beyond that. So, Pisces also stands for the transition between the material world and the spiritual world. Pisceans care deeply, as they just naturally feel the connection between themselves and everything that is. Therefore, they always strive to serve the greater good and have strong morals and principles. You often see surgeons, preachers, gurus and artists that are Pisces (however this seems to be even more with people with ascendant Pisces). This zodiac sign also stands for our connection to spirituality and faith, as well as our own soul and our soul mate. As their sign is so intuitive they make great lovers and seemingly read the minds of their loved ones and do everything to make them feel loved.
The energy of pisces is strongly connected to fantasy, therefore animated movies, art and also video games (especially in fantasy worlds) also have their place here. Pisces stands for isolation and being far away from the daily routines. In the zodiac cycle the house of pisces is in opposition to the 6th house of virgo, which represents routines, plans and work. Looking at Pisces from that angle, it also stands for asylums, hospitals, monasterys, churches, far away countries, retreats, and holiday which is taken for relaxation or health reasons. On another note, soldiers or refugees who are far away from their families and normal lives, are also represented by this sign. Pisces dissolves boundaries, therefore unions between countries (United Nations, European Union, OECD, etc.) but also wars which aim to dissolve borders are associated with this zodiac sign.
Pisces can also be quite chaotic. As they often reside in their own fantasy, they might sometimes lose touch with their immediate surroundings and also time. As the line between reality and fantasy is very fine with Pisces, we also associate mental illnesses like depression or psychosis with this sign. If this is the case they need to find their balance again and try to concentrate more on their connection to the spiritual realm through prayer and meditation or service to people in need. Pisceans love unconditionally but it’s their strong connection to a higher purpose that gets them anywhere!
